Visit of Filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako

African filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako will visit Atlanta on Nov. 6 and 7, sponsored by UGA's Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, the French Consulate, and the Bronze Lens Film Festival. Sissako's most recent film, Timbuktu (2014) won 7 César awards, including Best Film and Best Director, and was a finalist for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Friday events will include two workshops with Sissako and a screening of his 2002 film Heremakono: Waiting for Happiness at 7 pm (SCADshow). On Saturday there will be a screening of Timbuktu at 4 pm followed by a public discussion with the filmmaker at 6 pm (Woodruff Arts Center).
